I really like the can-do attitude of Fluxus and somewhat random or awkward situations arise from their work.
'Stone Piece - Take the sound of the stone ageing'
'Room Piece - Bottle the smell of the house'
'Choice 18 - Performers use mirrors to show the audience to itself'
The collation of hundreds of simple performances in a book that have ownership, but are available for everyone to perform turns everyone into artists. Its like those 'Destroy Me" books that instruct you on how to be creative, slightly ironic in my opinion.
I then went on to look at badly designed objects.

I came across this when reseaching Fluxus, I made a drawing. The image struck me immediately as it made me feel uncomfortable, it shows the importance of good design in everyday life. In my work I'd like to challenge 'the norm' of functionality, create awkward objects and digital and analogue glitches. |
